New Years Resolutions Recap: Did I Fail Again?

We are well and truly in December, believe it or not! This year has been jam-packed with memories, laughter, and adventure. And equally, there have been more upsetting things happening. Which in combination make for an exciting year! Because heartaches, tears and all, this year has been one of my happiest yet! The move “back home”, back to the German countryside, has been to best decision made in the past decade I think.

With 2024 being one of my best years ever, I wanted to go back to January-Me and check back in. I did set a couple New Years resolutions at the beginning of the year, in hopes to grow as a person and in turn be a better friend, sister, daughter, partner, and human being in general. No easy task! So let’s see how I did!

#1: Spend more time with friends & family

My first of my New Years resolutions, to spend more time with family and friends, I have definitely accomplished! I might even have over-achieved it, as I found myself almost being “stressed” – in the best possible way! – by the amount of time I got to spend time with loved ones and simply enjoy life together. (All of the mischief we get up to is proudly shared on my Instagram!) This month for example, there hasn’t been a single weekend, that I didn’t have something fun planned with friends & family. I even lost track of all my engagements and double-booked once or twice. And I’m absolutely chuffed with that!

#2: Be more conscious with my buying habits

Again, I think it is save to say I nailed my second of my New Years resolutions as well! I have applied a lot of the tips & tricks I mentioned in my Black Friday shopping guide throughout the year. And I made an effort to buy as much as possible in actual local shops, preferably smaller/independent ones, to support my community as much as possible. By doing that, not only did I buy a lot less stuff than I have done in years gone by and thus saved a lot of money. But I also learned to appreciate the things I own a lot more. It really isn’t about owning a lot of clothes or trying every single skincare product on the market anymore for me. I have become a lot more minimalistic, sticking to capsule wardrobe items & skincare bits I know will work for me. And I’m much happier for it!

#3: Spend time doing absolutely nothing

This might be the one New Years resolution I didn’t crush. I did do a lot better, just hanging out at home, reading, listening to music, or simple sitting on the balcony, admiring the nature around me. But I would often fall back into the must-get-as-much-as-possible-done-in-one-day-mentality. That’s okay though – I can acknowledge that I still have to do some work here and keep on getting better next year. Some things take more time than others…

What are 2025’s New Years Resolutions going to be?

Honestly, I’m not too sure. I’m obviously going to try to spend more time doing nothing. But other than that? No idea. If you have any New Years resolutions that you think would improve my life, feel free to drop them down below! Until then, I’m wishing you a wonderful December, a very merry Christmas, and a great start to 2025!
