Thoughts on Thursdays: Changing Your Mindset

Hey guys! It’s been a while since I shared something on this blog – I hope you have all been getting though winter okay! I do have to say, a few things have changed when it comes to my blog. When I started out over two years ago now, I thought this would be a blog where I shared all of my favorite products. And I did that for a while (you might remember the Monthly Favorites!). But both last year and this year, I have made a conscious effort to limit my consumption. And in doing so, not only do I have less products to share. But of course I also don’t want to encourage you lovely lot to go out and buy a bunch of products you might not need.

So I was at a little bit of a cross roads for a while, not really knowing what to share on here. That’s when I came up with the idea of Thoughts on Thursdays, but really, I haven’t had many thoughts to share with you lately. Anyway – rant over! If there are certain things/topics you want to read more about, please make sure to let me know, either in the comments section or on my Instagram.

Todays Topic: Mindset

Todays Thoughts on Thursdays is going to be about a very important topic: your mindset. If you have read my goals for 2025, you would know that my number one priority for this year was to find a new job. Now, I actually just know thought about whether to phrase it “was to” or “is to”. And as you can see, I decided on the former. I actually, fortunately, do not feel the pressing need to find a new job imminently anymore. And that is even though not that much has changed! So let me get into it…

You decide how you feel about something

The fact that I get to decide how I feel about something honestly just popped into my head one day. It wasn’t that I talked about it with someone, or really thought long and hard about the problems I faced at work. I just suddenly realized that I am in charge of my own happiness. So I actively decided to change the way I look at things, get a new perspective, find a more positive mindset. And it actually worked!

Let me give you an example. I really used to focus on all of the things that annoyed me at my job. The terrible wage. How patients kept complaining about the same things over and over again, usually things out of my control (like the food). Now, I actively seek out the things in my day-to-day life that bring me joy. Meeting a lot of different people with inspiring stories. Joking around with the patients. Being able to workout on the job – how many people can do that? I get to go on walks outside. If I feel like I need a good stretch, I can do that and call it therapy for the patients. That definitely is a huge perk that comes with the job.

Creating happiness

All those things I just mentioned were there before. I just didn’t see or maybe didn’t appreciate them enough. I chose to focus on the bad things, I chose a negative mindset, I chose to make my working life terrible. But if I can actively choose to make my life harder, why wouldn’t I be able to choose to make it better? It is so simple, so obvious, and yet it took me a while to figure it out. I am in charge of my own life, my own mindset, my own happiness. I get to create either of those things. It it what I have been working on the past month or so. I feel so much better for it. Of course, the same thing applies to your lives as well! There is always going to be something in each of our lives that we’re not 100% happy about. And if you can’t change the thing itself, at least try and change your mindset about it!
