June Favorites: The Best Face Masks, Summer Dresses, Podcasts & More!

Three of my June favorites all in one picture: My Julia, the dress & Aperol Spritz

I know I’m a bit late talking about my June favorites, but there was just SO MUCH going on for me! With moving soon (so excited!) and having a lovely holiday just days before our move, there was a lot to be organized and done. But as July is also the month of me being officially unemployed (loving it), I had to make some time to tell you all about the things I loved last month. So without further ado, let’s get into it!

June Favorites: Beauty

I have just recently uploaded my Summer Beauty Favorites of 2023, so I’ll try to keep this short & sweet. I can’t promise anything though. There are always so many great new (or old) beauty products I (re-)discover & want to share with you. I guess we’ll see how it goes…

Lavera Pure Beauty Purifying Fluid

June favorites: lavera hautbildverfeinerndes fluid

This purifying fluid by Lavera is one of the products I rediscovered in my bathroom cabinet. I told you before that because we are moving soon (last time I’m mentioning it for today), I’m trying to use up as many things as possible. So I have switched around my beauty routine slightly – no longer using a vitamin C serum in the morning. Instead, I grab this fluid. And my skin seems to be loving it! Not sure if it’s just the “new” beauty routine, my slightly improved nutrition, or the fact that the Summer sun makes everything look better. But my skin hasn’t looked this good in a looong time. So I’ll be sure to keep this little routine going!

masque Bar Anti Wrinkle Mask

This one is a bit controversial for me. I know I said in this post that I want to reduce my use of single-use products. And then my boyfriend buys a couple of these masque Bar sheet masks. And they turn out the be the best thing since sliced bread! What a dilemma. Not sure what to do.

What I like about these masks is the fact that they actually firm up my skin. I can tell a huge difference in the morning after using them. Plus since it’s a sheet mask, it is super easy and mess free to apply. The sheet itself stays on the skin pretty well. I also like to drag some of the serum down the neck.

So highly recommend the formula – you decide for yourself if all the trash is worth it for you.

June Favorites: Fashion

The Perfect White Summer Dress

One of my favorite summer dresses ever is actually from Amazon. Of all places. I got it last year and wore it all around Ibiza. And of course, it has had an outing or two in June as well. This dress is just so comfortable, no zips or buttons, just super stretchy smocking on the bust. You can wear the sleeves up or down, both ways look equally fabulous. The fabric is super lightweight, but without being see-through (big bonus!). And it comes in a million different colors, so there’s going to be one for each of us. I of course chose the white version, because I am predictable like that. And very partial to a white dress! Especially in the Summer.

Joyspels Workout Shorts

My next fashion favorite are these biker shorts from Joyspels. And – of course – I got them off Amazon as well! They came recommend by a friend from the gym, and when she told me they had a great offer going on, I actually purchased 4 different colors: pink, dark green, army green & kiwi green. All of them are squat proof, which matters a lot! They are super comfortable and the leg doesn’t ride up, even when you’re cycling or doing burpees. One thing to mention though: they do get sweat marks, so I don’t wear the lighter colors for very intense (sweaty) workouts.

Also if you leave them a review on Amazon & send them a screenshot of it, you get a free pair!

June Favorites: Podcasts

Medical Murders

I discovered this podcast in June and have been listening to a lot of episodes. Don’t you love discovering new podcasts? It means a whole lot of episodes to listen to, without having to wait for new ones. Anyway, there were a few that I particularly enjoyed, but just one I wanted to share with you today. The reason for this is that the episode is about Josef Mengele, who was a doctor in the concentration camp in Auschwitz. It tells the tale of what he, and other doctors at the time, did to “minorities”, like the jewish people, handicapped people, and twins. While this episode is not funny or “entertaining”, I think it is of utmost importance that we never forget what happened, and what these people went through. I highly encourage you do listen to the podcast, to make yourself aware of what the Nazis did, so stuff like that can never happen again.

Weird Crimes

On a much, much lighter note, episode 47 of the Weird Crimes podcast was simply amazing. So many plot twists. The amount of work that host Visa Vie put into it is extraordinary! And not only is this one super entertaining, it also teaches us a valuable lesson about trust…

June Favorites: All of the Events

As I said in the beginning of this post, there was so much going on this month! And fortunately, almost all of these things were great:

  • We found our new apartment! Went up north for a weekend to look at potential flats and houses, and fell in love with a flat. It’s more than double the size of our current apartment, and I can’t wait to make it the coziest home of all!
  • Went to Nuremberg with a couple of friends I hadn’t seen in months – had the best time ever & can’t wait to do it all again.
  • Left my old job at the cardiac rehab centre, and couldn’t fathom the outpour of love I received from patients, members, and co-workers alike. Plus got the most heart warming messages and fare-well gifts ever <3
  • Did a spirometria and found that I am much fitter than I thought – patting myself on the back here. Well done me!
Celebrating my unemployment
Spirometria (such fun!)

Looking back over this post, I think I actually did an alright job with keeping it short & simple – yay! As always, thank you so much for reading all the way to the end. Please make sure to let me know your thoughts as well as your June favorites!

Lots of Love,

Lena
