Over the past year I would say, I have been making a lot of changes to my hair care routine. And I like to think that it really made a difference. My hair is a lot softer, fuller, and less frizzy. It does however still very much have a mind of its own… some days it’s almost pin straight, other days almost curly. But alas, I am not here to complain, but to tell you all about my all time favorite hair care products! Some are from the drug store, some are a bit higher end, all are fantastic.
My Favorite Shampoos
Redken All Soft Shampoo
This one is a hot favorite of mine to calm down very dry, frizzy hair. It actually does what the name suggests and makes it all [very] soft. Make sure to look out for sales or special offers, as it is a little pricier (but worth the money).
Kérastase Bain Thérapiste Shampoo
I know I have already featured this shampoo in a monthly favorites post, but I had to put it in here as well, because it remains one of my absolute favorites. It is expensive as far as shampoos go, but I have had mine since December and it is still going very strong. You really only need a tiny bit of product to thoroughly wash you hair. This one is great for anyone with very dry or damaged hair, especially those that get color treatments like myself. And I find that it really helps with fly aways as well, maybe because it weighs down the hair a little bit. So if you have quite thick, “heavy” hair already, that might be something to keep in mind. I don’t, so this shampoo works absolutely fine for me!
Kérastase Bain Divalent Spécique
Another favorite that has already featured in a monthly favorites post, but had to be mentioned again. As I said in this post, this shampoo was recommended to me by my hairdresser, because my roots get oily quite quickly, while the rest of my hair tends to be on the drier side. And what can I say, she was right. Great shampoo, highly recommend to anyone with the same issues.
L’Oreal Hydra [Hyaluronic] Shampoo
This one is my favorite shampoo from the drug store I’d say. It’s a lot cheaper then the shampoos mentioned so far, but makes my hair feel really nice and soft as well. What I’ll usually do is wash my hair with this one first, then follow up with one of the other ones. Works really well for me and obviously makes my other, more luscious shampoos last longer. Win-win!
My Favorite Conditioners
Redken All Soft Conditioner
I guess it goes without saying that since I love the Redken All Soft Shampoo, the same applies for the conditioner. Because I do. It doesn’t weigh down my hair but leaves it feeling nice and soft. Basically what I look for in a conditioner. So if you can, try to get your hands on the set, it also tends to be a bit cheaper!
L’Oreal Dream Length Conditioner
The Dream length conditioner is a great, cheaper alternative to the Redken All Soft one. It basically does the same things, nourish your hair and make it feel great, but at a much lower price point. Definitely qualifies as a favorite!
L’Oreal Bon Repair Conditioner
This conditioner is the latest addition to my hair care regimen, but already a favorite. And I think that goes for a lot of people, because it really wasn’t that easy to get my hands on it, it was always sold out. But after all, here we are and I can attest: it works great. If it really does what it claims, repair the bonds of broken hair, remains to be seen, but it does make my hair feel nice and light.
My Favorite Deep Conditioners & Hair Masks
Kérastase Masque Thérapiste
Another surprise (not): I just love the Kérastase products, and this hair mask is not exception. It is quite pricy, but does go on sale fairly often. And as you don’t need too much product, it lasts you a good while. Perfect for dehydrated, frizzy hair (i.e. the upcoming summer months!).
Wella Professionals Luxeoil Keratin Restore Mask
This one is the hair mask I currently use. And while I do think they could have come up with a better name, that is probably its only flaw. It leaves my hair feeling nice and silky, without weighing it down at all. And it’s quite a bit cheaper than the Kérastase one as well(a)!
L’Oreal Dream Length Rapid Reviver
Another favorite from the drugstore is this deep conditioner. This one is great for when you don’t have time to let a hair mask sit on your hair for very long, but need a little TLC for your hair. Basically comes with the benefits of a hair mask but the application time of a conditioner. A m a z i n g!
My Favorite Leave-In Products
L’Oreal Hydra [Hyaluronic] Leave-In Serum
Out of all the leave-in products that I’ve tried over the years, this one is my absolute favorite. And it’s from the drugstore, so pretty affordable! It really takes the softness of my hair to the next level, and I can definitely tell a difference when using it. It also makes the hair much easier to brush when wet. If it had built in heat protectant, it would be a solid 11/10. But even without it, I wouldn’t want to miss it!
Garnier Fructis Keratin Filler Leave-In
If you prefer a leave-in conditioner with heat protectant in it, this one by Garnier is a great option. It does also help with detangling your hair and keeps it nice and soft – although not quite as soft as the L’Oreal one does. But hey, you can’t have it all. I still really like this one, and it smells pretty good as well.
Naissance Sweet Almond Oil
I have already shouted about this almond oil in a favorites video – but of course mentioning it here again. This step in my routine has taken my hair health to the next level! It does require a bit of planning, because I don’t think you would want to leave the house with this in your hair. But you can easily apply it at night and then wash your hair the next morning. It does come out pretty easily. I usually shampoo my hair twice and have never had an issue with it still being oily afterwards. And you don’t need lots of it, so the bottle is going to last you forever. Highly recommend you try it!
My Favorite Hairbrushes – Actual Gamechangers!
WetBrushes
These two brushes have been true game changers for me, so pretty save to call them a favorite. For the longest time I used a wide tooth comb, because that was what was recommended for healthy hair way back when. And of course I knew about Tangleteezers and WetBrushes, but didn’t think they would be much better. I have rarely been so wrong. I don’t even know what it is about these brushes, but somehow my hair is a lot softer and way less frizzy when I use them. Whatever the sorcery, I love it!
What a looong list of tools & products, but I really couldn’t not include any of these in here. As always, thank you so much for reading and sticking with me til the end, I highly appreciate it! Please let me know any of your holy grail hair care products.
Lots of Love,
Lena
