Think of New Years resolutions what you may. I personally think a “fresh start” like this can be a great source of inspiration and motivation for a lot of people. And with the New Year just having started, I sat down to think about my goals and intentions for this year. New Years resolutions for me don’t have to be about eating better or working out more. They can also be personal goals to achieve or things to be ticked off of bucket lists. So basically all of the things you want to achieve that year. So I am writing them down now, and in 12 months time I can come back and check what did or didn’t work out.
#1: Spend more time with friends & family
If you know me, you know that I love working out and keeping active. Much to the detriment of my spare time. And in the past, I put “working out” in front of seeing my friends and family – not intentionally of course. But I have come to realize that CrossFit isn’t everything, and that spending time with loved ones is much more important. So here’s to being more flexible with my workouts! What a contradiction to most New Years resolutions…
#2: Be more conscious with my buying habits
We live in a world where basically everything is just a click away. And it is so easy to just buy whatever you need online, right then and there. For the new year, I want to be a little more conscious with that. I want to spend more attention on how things are made, meaning their impacts on humans, the environment, etc. Over the past few years I have already limited my “fast fashion” consumption. This year I also want to make a point to buy more locally, or at least from small businesses, rather than the big players. That way, at least in my mind, I help someone make a living, rather than help the big companies get even bigger.
#3: Spend time doing absolutely nothing
I want 2024 to be the year of recreation for me. I have a tendency to always wanting to be as efficient as I can be, writing to do-lists as long as my arm and not feeling satisfied until I have ticked off every single thing. Even if the one thing that needs doing more than every single one of those to do’s is rest. If I’m not careful, I simply burn myself out. And since I want to live a long and happy life, I really shouldn’t be doing that any longer! So third on my New Years resolutions list is taking it easier on myself. After all, we’ve got nothing if we haven’t got our health.
What are your New Years resolutions?
That’s it already guys! I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself for the new year. After all, I literally just said how I want to go easier on myself. Setting up a bunch of goals isn’t going to be very helpful in that regard! If you have any New Years resolutions and would like to share them with me, feel free to leave a comment down below!
Lots of Love,
Lena
