The Best 5 Podcasts To Kick-Start Your Health Journey

My personal health journey is something that I’m very passionate about. This goes for physical as well as mental health. Like improving my digestion and getting rid of bloating. Or improving my mental health by staying off all social media. And I have already shared some of the best books to read to help you get started or improve your own health journey. All of these posts just mentioned seemed to do very well with you, my dearest readers. And because I know that not everybody has the time or resources to read a bunch of books, today I wanted to recommend some of the best podcasts to listen to, to kick-start you health journey. Some of them are by the authors of the books I mentioned, helping us to deepen our understanding of a certain topic. So let’s go!

#1: ZOE – Science & Nutrition

This doesn’t come as a surprise to you if you have been reading my blog regularly. For one, I have mentioned this particular podcast a few times in my monthly favorites. Plus, the company ZOE was co-founded by Tim Spector, the author of Spoon Fed, which is potentially my number 1 favorite book regarding my personal health journey.

This podcasts covers a range of different topics: control of blood sugar levels, gut health, sports & exercise, what to eat & what to avoid to improve your overall health… there is so much information! It’s almost guaranteed there is an episode that’s perfect for you.

#2: The Gutology Podcast

As the name suggests, the Gutology Podcast is all about gut health. This is the perfect podcast for anybody that is completely new to gut health/people right at the beginning of their health journey, because while it does go into great detail, it also explains a lot of the fundamentals. Examples include what the gut actually is, how digestion works, how food is broken down, etc.

Each episode you learn something new about your gut/body, and the tips & tricks they provide are really simple to incorporate into your everyday life. Highly, highly recommend!

#3: The Food Medic

The Food Medic is a podcast for women, hosted by Dr Hazel Wallace, who specializes in women’s health & nutrition. It covers a variety of different topics, from menstrual cycles and what to eat when, to female health problems and diseases like endometriosis, PCOS, amenorrhea, and others.

I’m very lucky that I don’t suffer from any of those things, but I still find this podcast really interesting. When it comes to my personal health journey, I want to go about it as holistically as I can. Meaning not only do I want to improve my digestion, but maybe there is something I can do to improve my menstrual cycle or hormonal balance as well. Sometimes you need to hear about something to realize what you’re experiencing isn’t “normal”.

#4: The Matt Walker Podcast

Sleep is likely the second most important thing in my health journey, right after fixing my gut health. It’s simple: you can eat a perfect diet and exercise in just the right way. But if you don’t get enough sleep, all your efforts are diminished.

Matt Walker’s book Why We Sleep is something I recommend to pretty much anybody. It is jam-packed with information: the science of sleeping, circadian rhythms, and what happens when you don’t get enough shut eye. In his podcast all of that and more is covered. Perfect if you want to take the next step in your health journey!

#5: The Glucose Revolution

And finally – this won’t come as a surprise either – is Jessie Inchauspé’s amazing podcast Glucose Revolution. I have raved about her book, also called Glucose Revolution, on a number of occasions. The tips and tricks given in both the book and podcast, alongside those provided by Matt Walker, have given me what seems like infinite energy. And it is super easy as well!

If you suffer from lack of energy, particularly after meals, this podcast is the one for you. Not only does it help to understand why you feel groggy after eating, but how to combat it. Plus, it talks about the effects high blood sugar levels have on your overall health and aging process – super interesting to learn!

Your Own Health Journey Starts Right Now!

Now that you have all of these amazing podcasts (along with a book or two), there really isn’t any excuse as to why you couldn’t start your own health journey right now! Let me know your thoughts and opinions on the topic. Are there any podcasts I’m missing? I am forever eager to learn more!
